Lilith Odyssey is, if we must, a survival game and a roguelike (oh, the many dispara-[yeah alright, alright. Jesus. - ed.]), but that is reductive. In general, rechargeable batteries are a better bet - and probably more ecologically sound? - but sometimes you just need a cheap and cheerful battery to shove in a thing. Hylics 2 is a turn-based RPG in an olde JRPG-y way. You build a party of pals, explore, battle baddies, and fly around on an airship - the Finalest Fantasy mode of transport. It just happens to have, y’know, all that style. And god, what style. I adore it. Maybe the best-looking game of the year so far. Come at me, Naughty Dog. Starting with the P2, this drive is available right now in 250GB and 500GB sizes for £54 / £63 (US pricing TBC), with a 1TB model to follow at a later date, according to Crucial. At time of writing, the 250GB model is a bit more expensive than my current budget NVMe champion, the excellent WD Blue SN550, but the 500GB price is actually a smidge cheaper than its WD rival, so I’ll be intrigued to see whether its claimed sequential speeds of 2300MB/s read and 940MB/s write translate to faster random speeds once I get one in for testing....

So, Curse Of The Dead Gods starts you off with some pretty basic weapons - like a machete and a pistol - and as you travel through the temple you find more with different effects that can combo off of each other. There are so many good options, too. One run I had a whip as my secondary that increased damage by 30% for throwing knives as my main. It was a combo that worked perfectly, but I quickly forgot about it when I found The Sky Hammer....

Developers Team WIBY have placed a lot of importance on learning from other players’ mishaps in Phantom Abyss. During each run you’ll be joined by up to 20 ghosts of those who’ve gone before you, so if a massive spear suddenly shanks them from out of nowhere, you’ll know to avoid that bit. I bet it gets intense when all the phantoms die off and you become aware that you’re navigating unexplored territory....
Rumours that Diablo 4 would appear at The Game Awards began circulating in summer, and have continued to crop up since. As revealed on their blog in August, Blizzard will be running Diablo 4 as a seasonal live-service game with microtransactions, although Blizzard insist that these won’t be “pay-for-power”. It’s now alleged that season one of Diablo 4 will begin in Q3 2023, regardless of the game’s purported spring launch....
